Autobiographical Narrative
My life began to change when I started High School. Everything was different, the people were different, the school, the teachers, and the working environment. Deciding what major fits me has been very challenging that is why I have not chosen a particular one yet. However there are many in which have called my attention like a criminology and a marine biologist. Yes these are two very different majors but both seem very interesting. I’m interested in marine biology because I would like to study animals in their natural habitats, effects of environment and industries on animals. And as for criminology, I’ve always found investigations exciting.
As a person who’s lived in the central valley her entire life I’ve learned that I want to live in a much larger city where I have more opportunities to flourish. Although, I don’t need to be living in a large city to be successful, I’d like to experience something new in a bigger town. Growing up in Lindsay California hasn’t been all bad, I learned that in a tiny city with a low crime rate everyone knows everyone and everyone in the community helps each other out and watch each other’s back. Going to school at LHS so far has been stressful and hard, but it’s made me realize that the harder you work the better your future will be. By this I mean I don’t want to have the same life as my parents, where they never have time to ask their kids how their day has gone and can barely pay the bills on time.
It’s hard keeping up with all my classes and at the same time maintain a social life. What has helped me stay focus and prepare me for college is AVID; it pushed me beyond my limits to reach my goals and ambitions. This program motivates me to try my hardest and decide on the right choices. While being part of it I’ve learn to come out of my comfort zone and socialize with new people. Socializing with new people has always been hard for me but avid helped me improve. Before I was in it I wouldn’t talk to anyone new, I only talked to the people I’ve known since I was little. It was hard for me because sometimes the people I was close to were not always able to help me. That is why I’m thankful that I am able to interact more with others.
I am active in what my school has to offer not only academically but also in extracurricular activities. I play tennis and I’m an FBLA member. I joined Future Business Leaders of America to help me prepare for careers in business. Being part of FBLA has helped me explore business opportunities and has allowed me to share real-life experiences at meetings and workshops. I have been part of this club for 2 years now. Also, being in tennis has helped me relieve my stress out on the courts, and I’ve been part of this sport for 2 years.
