A New Beginning
There is approximately four months left of senior year, I am extremely nervous to graduate because It is barely hitting me that I will no longer go to high school and live with my parents after graduating. However I have been preparing for college, I applied to four UC’s and four CSU’s. Not only that but I have also just finished my FAFSA application and a few scholarships. I also took the EPT and ELM test 2 weeks ago. I am very scared for my exit interview because I am one of the last ones to present, I would've prefered to present earlier but many obstacles stopped me from presenting earlier.
To prepare myself for college my AVID teacher has assigned book reports and college work that is fairly hard. The book we are reading is surprisingly interesting which makes it easier for me to complete the guided questions. My teacher is also taking us to visit a few colleges near L.A. Thinking about college gets me very tense. I am afraid I won't get into my number one College. However even if I don't I still have other options since I applied to eight colleges.
When I think of college I think about money because I know how expensive college can be. I know i'm going to have to pay for books, dorms, food and other tools I might need for the classes i'm going to take. I also think about the experiences i'm going to have while i'm over there. Also i’m very anxious/ thrilled to live on my own.
I have still yet to accept the Colleges I have been accepted to and have not created portals. I still need to catch up on my spanish and English class. I also need to be on pace in order to go to Grad Nite. Grad Nite is the one thing i'm looking forward to other than graduating. That is why i'm encouraged to work really hard and finish my classes early so I could relax and have time for other things. Even Though I try really hard not procrastinate once I get home it's really hard to focus so I usually watch TV or eat. This puts me in a situation where I turn in my work on time but I do it last minute.
Looking back on senior year I am most grateful for my friends, my mom, and my teachers. My friends helped me through a lot this year. They provided lots of advice and have been helping me practice for my senior exit interview. I am not only grateful for my friends but also my mom who has helped me the most so far. She helped me get to where I am by mentoring me about why school is important and how education can help me get somewhere in life. My teachers have helped me tremendously that is why I am grateful for them and i'm surely going to miss them all.
